The TaoTronics SoundLiberty 79 is a pair of earphones. It is affordable compared with Apple AirPods. The headphones from Apple are sold for $200, but the TaoTronics SoundLiberty 79 is only sold for $79.

This is a great alternative to the expensive brand. It is a true wireless earbud, or what people in the industry call TWS. If you are lucky, you can buy it for $50 if it is on sale.

At first, you will think that it is a cheap rip-off. However, many users have already testified that it does work wonders. The developer, TaoTronics, has created something that the masses can enjoy. It is affordable and can run for long hours—enough to make you watch many movies as you desire.

Features of the TaoTronics SoundLiberty 79 Wireless Earbuds

Let us take a closer look at its features, and then you decide if you want to buy yours.

The Case

First, let us take a look at the case. The case itself is rechargeable but it does not have a wireless charging capability.

You need to insert a USB charging wire into it, and then plug it in.

The battery life of the case is 32 hours of playback time. What this means is that if you charge it, you can recharge the earbuds from it. This is great if you are travelling, as you can store power in the case itself.

The case can be opened with only one hand. Not that it matters a lot, but it just feels good to know.

The case has been tested, and it can withstand shakes. It means that it is durable and that the earbuds inside will not get displaced.  

There are four light indicators for the case. They will show you the status o the battery life of the case, which serves as a guide as to how much power is available.  

As far as the design is concerned, do not expect that much. The case comes in black or white. It has a clamshell design, and it is not unusual.

What I like about it is the sturdy build because it does not squeak when you open and close it. The case only weighs 46 grams with the earbuds inside.

The Earbuds

Now, let us talk about the earbuds. If fully charged, they have a battery life of 8 hours only. This is great, as you can complete at least two movies with it—enough to make you fall asleep.

On average, it takes 15 minutes of charging time to give you 90 minutes of playback time.

As far as user experience is concerned, I can say that it has to be improved. The ear buds cannot be turned off unless you put them back in the case.

And even if it has some touch controls, you have to press the buttons several times to make the touch register.

For the design, the earbuds look ordinary. They have a low profile, and the finish paint is matte.

The earbuds are made of plastic. The comfort is great, and the fit is also great.

The good thing about this is that they come on three different sizes—small, medium, and large. The large ear tip is what I recommend so you get the best fit—they will not fall off. I wore them for three hours and I never felt any discomfort.  

Another thing worth mentioning is that the earbud has a fin. You can remove this or put it back—it serves as a cushion to give you the best ear fit.

For the microphone, you will be surprised that it has a Smart AI Noise Reduction feature. It is surprising because I wouldn’t normally expect this from an earbud at this price range.

While it is not perfect, I can say that it can enhance your voice despite picking background noise.

For the sound, let me give you a summary:

• Bass – better than the other frequency ranges. As far as I am concerned, the bass of this earbud is its best quality.
• Mids – the mids are fine, and they are not droned by the bass.
• Highs – the highs are okay—the do not produce a shrieking sound that hurts the ears.

Another thing I want to point out about the earbuds is that they are waterproof. They have a rating of IPX7, and it seems to me that they made these earbuds for people who go to the gym.

For connectivity, it uses Bluetooth. Specifically, it uses BES2300H. The brand is Bluetooth SoC, a brand I have never heard of before.

Upon testing, I can say that pairing is easy and that you can expect its connectivity to last. So far, it did not give me the same problems that I had where they earbuds keep on disconnecting.

These cons are not that big of a deal. I have to say that the performance is great. Putting them back on the case is not a problem at all. The touch feedback is also not necessary to me.

Yes, it definitely is. There was a time I bought cheap knock offs worth $10. These earbuds couldn’t even last a full movie.

All in all, I love it. You do not have to spend $200 on the original AirPods, but you can get the same sound quality and performance with TaoTronics SoundLiberty 79.
