SkyBell 2.0 Doorbell Review

When it comes to home security, the number of options available for devices that integrate security solutions and smart home technology has significantly increased in the past couple of years.

Today, we will review the SkyBell Smart Doorbell 2.0 which has address some of the major issues people had with the first iteration of this device.

Continue reading below to see what we really think about the Skybell 2.0

Skybell 2.0 and newer models:

One of the first things that caught our eye right away is the beautiful design that graces the SkyBell.

It features a sleek metallic finish that comes in either silver or black and weighs a mere 9.3 ounces.

The installation process is very easy; simply attach the SkyBell smart doorbell to your wall using 4 screws and run the wires to your existing doorbell.

Once installed, install the iOS/Android app and add the device to your Wi-Fi network.

The integrated camera is absolutely fantastic and you will have no problems whatsoever identifying who is at your door, the images are clear and bright even in poor lighting conditions.

The device also includes a motion sensor that activates when the sensor picks up movements and the button on the doorbell is not pressed.

The sensitivity of the sensor is absolutely outstanding and it makes sure that you won’t be bothered by a stray dog or cat but it sure to notice when the mailman shows up with the mail.

The app integration with iOS and Android is as seamless as it gets and you’ll get the notifications almost instantly and the video comes up on the screen extremely fast, normally within one or two seconds.

We’re actually very glad that SkyBell has worked on this issue as it seemed to be one of the most common issues people had with the first version of this device.

One problem we did notice during the installation setup is the fact that the bundled app seems to be a bit outdated and it feels kind of sluggish, even on newer devices.

On the subject of the motion sensor, the fact that it takes 10 seconds to activate and the fact that it activates the doorbell anyway might make it a bit uncomfortable for your visitors as it will definitely alert them on the fact that you might be looking at them before they even ring the doorbell.

Overall we think the SkyBell 2.0 smart doorbell is a great improvement on the previous version of the smart doorbell and the fact that the manufacturers have worked hard on these issues proves their commitment to their product.

Despite some minor app issues and a tiny bit of lag when it comes to video playback, the SkyBell 2.0 smart doorbell is a great addition to any smart home and the fact that it looks absolutely stunning adds to its value as a high-tech gadget.

If you’re looking for a smart doorbell, look no further.
