How to Connect Canon MG3500 Printer to WiFi

The MG3500 series is an excellent addition to Canon’s lineup. Now, you can print seamlessly via WiFi or able, and you can even connect your mobile device.

If you want to know how to connect the Canon MG3500 printer to WiFi, I will provide you with the instructions.

In addition, I will also show you some of the most common problems that you may face and the solutions to them.

How to Connect Canon MG3500 Printer to WiFi

First, make sure that your router is working and that you have internet. You must also confirm that your computer is connected to the same network and router.

Plug the printer and turn it on. The green light will be solid next to the power button once it is on. Next, check the blue WiFi light next to the WiFi button on the printer

The WiFi light must be blinking. If it is solid or off, press the WiFi button until the warning light (amber with electricity symbol) flashes twice. Once it does, release the WiFi button.

Now, you must install the software. Use the disc that came with the printer. If your computer has no CD ROM, you can download the driver from Canon’s website. To help you out, here is the link to the driver

During the installation process, a pop-up window will show asking you to connect either by wireless or connection or USB connection. Choose Wireless Connection.

Then, click NEXT, and then CONNECT TO THE NETWORK. Next, click the button that says CABLELESS SETUP. After this, click NEXT. Once you do this, the network connection will be disabled for a few minutes. This is fine.

Once the installation screen is back up, click on SELECT ALL, then NEXT. Agree with the license agreement, and then keep on clicking next until the installation is complete.

The next step is to complete the process and then do a print head alignment. Do this until you complete the software installation. It is up to you if you want to register your product or not.

Finally, you can now do a test print. Before you click on EXECUTE, make sure you have paper loaded in the printer. Once done, you are now ready to print and scan.

Common Canon Pixma MG3500 Problems and Troubleshooting

Sometimes, your printer will not print, or it won’t work. There is a myriad of problems that can happen, and here I am going to address several of them.

By the way, the printer has a warning lamp, the icon of which looks like lightning. It will flash if there is a problem.

Problem 1: There are two flashes

If this is what you see, it means that the machine is out of paper. Load some paper and then restart the printing job. It is also possible that the print settings and the actual paper size do not match. Make sure you choose the correct paper size in the software program, then proceed with printing.

Problem 2: There are three flashes

What this means is that the output paper tray is closed, so you must pull it out. It is a new feature that most modern printers have now—they do not work if the output tray is pushed back inside the printer.

It is also possible that a paper is jammed somewhere. It could be in the output paper slot, the transport unit, or inside the printer. Take it off and try to reprint. Be careful when pulling the paper out so as not to rip it and leave a smaller piece inside.

Problem 3: There are four flashes

It means that the FINE cartridge is not installed properly. It is one of the things that many people find aggravating with Canon printers. Some of their models use cartridges, while other brands are now using the continuous ink system.

To fix this issue, open the printer’s front cover, and then wait for the headcover to open. Next, push down the lock lever and then slide the cartridge out. Now, put it back in and then restart the machine.

Problem 4: There are five flashes

If you are seeing five flashes, it means that NO cartridge is installed. Make sure that you are using the right cartridge model for the printer.

If you have the right cartridge, it is possible that the printer is not recognizing it. It is likely that the chip is damaged, so you must take it to a technician.

It is also likely that you bought a fake cartridge. You must only buy a cartridge from a reputable source and only buy the original. You can also reset the internal memory if you want.

To do this, use an old cartridge that the printer recognizes, then leave it for 10 minutes. Then, replace it with the new one. This process should solve the issue.

Problem 5: There are six to seven flashes

For six flashes, it only means that the printer output cover is open, but there is no print in queue. Close it, and this issue should go away. For seven flashes, it means that the ink cartridge is not positioned properly.

So far, we have covered several problems based on the flash count of the warning lamp. Below, I will cover some common problems even if the lamp is not flashing.

The printer is not turning on

If this is the issue, tap the ON button and make sure that your printer is connected to an outlet. If it does not work, unplug the printer and then re-plug it. Turn it on again, and it should work. If not, it is likely that the cable or power source in the electronics is damaged already, so you must take it to a technician.

The printer is not feeding correctly

If this happens, ensure that the correct paper size is installed in the tray. The papers must also be in good condition. Do not use folded or warped paper as the roller will not stick. In addition to this, check if the actual paper size matches the printer settings for the document you are printing.

The printer is not scanning

If this is the issue, connect the scanner to your PC with the cable that came with it. It is possible that the WiFi connection is poor.

It would also help if you restarted your PC. On some occasions, it is possible that your printer driver is outdated. Go to Canon’s driver page, which I mentioned earlier, and then download the most recent software. Make sure that you uninstall the old driver before installing the new one.
